ADI Design Index 2011
ADI Design Index is the ADI Associazione per il Disegno Industriale’s annual publication. It includes a collection of the best Italian design to go into production, chosen by a permanent jury known as the Osservatorio permanente del Design ADI. The selection encompasses products or product systems of every kind, theoretical study and critiques, studies into processes or business applied to design.
This year the book has a new look and contents. It is time to change, we can feel it in our bones, in a collective urge, as Luisa Bocchietto says in her preface and this sense of urgency for renewal has extended to the ADI Design Index . For the first time the publication comprises written contributions rather than just the selected pieces, so that it becomes something to be read and not simply looked at and examined. The introductions are not ‘institutional’ but serve as a cause for comparison and ideas for discussion and thought. Also new are the graphics which, following a cycle characterized by the mastery of Italo Lupi, have been asigned to Zup Associati, recent winners of a Compasso d’Oro award. An innovative layout that includes QR coding for easier consultation and improved communication to the advantage of those selected. It is a way of offering a new and improved service and of giving the publication the same visionary and revolutionary spirit associated with Italian design.
