Santillo Maria Pia

Maria Pia Saltillo was born on 8 November 1986. A graduate of the Liceo Classico di Benevento and law graduate from the Università degli Studi di Siena. During her time at university, she discovered the experimental cinema of Maya Deren and Chris Marker, Alberto Grifi’s dream machines and home movies by Alina Marazzi and Jonas Mekas. She has always been fascinated by the potentials of combining collage and found footage (LUX, 2012; Carnival of a dreamer, 2014), and in 2013, she began her own personal research on Italian animation for the cinema. She currently collaborates with Beatrice Pucci, inspired by the Italian Fairytales of Italo Calvino.
