Caro Gabriele

On 13 February 2013 Gabriele Basilico, the "architect photographer", died, leaving us a huge wealth of work, culture and humanity.
Caro Gabriele collects contributions and memories from eighty-four friends, life and work companions, from Giovanna Calvenzi and Gianni Berengo Gardin, Achille Bonito Oliva and Roberta Valtorta, to Philippe Daverio and Arturo Carlo Quintavalle, who compose a choral portrait that gives us the complex image of a great contemporary artist, but also of a gentle and generous man.

The texts are accompanied and counterpointed by a rich repertoire of photographs, in which Gabriele Basilico becomes both object and subject, and images that contribute to reconstruct the human and artistic path of this “measurer of space”, of this scholar of the transformation of the contemporary landscape, who never stopped looking for “eyes, noses, ears, lips and faces” hidden in the architecture of cities.
