In this case, it is a material and production technique, seemingly from days gone by, but in reality, it is very current: \u003cstrong\u003etextile design\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe Soft House\u003c\/em\u003e is configured as a collection of artworks and objects, featuring carpets that demonstrate an unexpected creative vitality and tapestries that are transformed into something else as they emerge from walls; with curtains and coverings that go beyond traditional decorated linear shapes, becoming functional objects, and upholstered elements that are anything but reminiscent of the usual chairs that we have seen for years. Last but not least, we see “items” of clothing that leave behind traditional consolidated typologies and move towards new hybridized products, somewhere \u003cstrong\u003ebetween fashion, art and design\u003c\/strong\u003e. A vast territory, also affected by the technological advances of our time, but especially ignited by a renewed interest in these artifacts which can contribute more than others to the idea of domesticity and the home that we all need and enjoy.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eAs with previous exhibitions curated by \u003cstrong\u003eBeppe Finessi\u003c\/strong\u003e at \u003cstrong\u003eMuseo Poldi Pezzoli\u003c\/strong\u003e, (“Di vaso in fiore”, “Fare Lume” and “Intorno al libro”), each of these works will be taken from the most significant protagonists on the contemporary international design scene, from a summary of some of the \u003cstrong\u003egreat masters\u003c\/strong\u003e such as Bruno Munari and Ettore Sotssass, Alessandro Mendini and Vico Magistretti, and some of the \u003cstrong\u003enew players on the international scene\u003c\/strong\u003e, such as Hella Jongerius, Scholten \u0026 Baijings, Ronan and Erwan Bourollec, Martí Guixé, Luca Nichetto and Matali Crasset. As a result, the images in the pages are often no more recognizable and also do not have a recognizable source anymore. Articulated in four different stages, each given a different title – it lasts over a period of nine months. The underlying concept was that the work of each of the thirty international artists should not remain as it was at the start of each phase, but would continue to change and evolve throughout the duration of the show, with additions, corrections, changes of shape or place and interaction between the artists themselves. Behind it all lies the vision of a shared project that aimed to question traditional exhibition methods and show the way ahead, at a time when both our planet and the systems governing it and the conventions of contemporary art are showing serious signs of weakness and a need to be reconsidered.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThis book is a diary of the \u003cem\u003eTerre vulnerabili\u003c\/em\u003e, on show at the HangarBicocca in Milan, 21 October 2010 - 17 July 2011.
