Italian Excellence | The New Generation of Children’s Illustrators

Twenty of the most promising young talents on the national scene are the key players in the third edition of "Eccellenze italiane", this year dedicated to the new generation of children's illustrators on the international scene. An anthology of shared talents and visions that seeks to convey the verve and exceptional communicative power of the new 'Italian languages of fantasy'. After the first edition “Illustrazione per ragazzi. Eccellenze italiane” (2015) and after the second event with “Figure per Gianni Rodari. Eccellenze italiane” (2019), Bologna Children’s Book Fair, together with the Regione Emilia-Romagna, and the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale, continues the promotion of Italian children's illustration around the world through a travelling exhibition and a catalogue.

The third edition of "Eccellenze italiane", again curated by Cooperativa Giannino Stoppani / Accademia Drosselmeier, has chosen the works of Giacomo Agnello Modica, Andrea Antinori, Michael Bardeggia, Beatrice Cerocchi, Marianna Coppo, Francesca Corso, Cecilia Ferri, Chiara Ficarelli, Marta Pantaleo, Giulia Pastorino, Irene Penazzi, Alice Piaggio, Camilla Pintonato, Michelangelo Rossato, Veronica Ruffato, Lorenzo Sangió, Francesca Sanna, Luca Tagliafico, Giulia Tomai, and Veronica Truttero.

The book Eccellenze italiane. La nuova generazione degli illustratori per ragazzi brings together illustrations by the young artists selected, contributions by Gianpiero Calzolari, Cecilia Piccioni and Mauro Felicori and pieces by Ivan Canu, Mauro Evangelista, Grazia Gotti, Silvana Sola and Elena Pasoli.
