Gilet Munari 1992/2023
A container of images and words, an ironic display for pocket art books, an artist's foray into the world of fashion: in the early nineties the Gilet designed by Bruno Munari for Corraini bore witness to the great artist and designer's spirit and his aptitude to blend different fields.
Thirty years later, Corraini Edizioni and Blue of a Kind, a sustainable design brand producing garments with a circular and innovative approach, pay homage to Bruno Munari's project with this brand new version: the Gilet Munari 1992/2023.
Multiple pockets, with various sizes to comfortably accommodate different books, and many fabrics, in different textures and shades to provide a variety of tactile experiences. A 200 pieces limited and handcrafted edition that aims to testify the project vein of this great artist and designer.
Compared to the original colours, blue and grey, blue - the iconic colour of denim - has been retained and pink has been added, since this nuance was often used by Munari in its brightest version, 'rosa Dilma', named after the artist's beloved wife.
To create the re-edition of the gilet, Blue of a Kind worked with upcycled denim fabric, salvaged from vintage garments, and responsibly produced fabrics and yarns such as Tencel™ Luxe and Refibra from Lenzing.
The gilet is accompanied by a booklet telling its story, from Munari's original project to the materials chosen for this new production.
