Illustrators Annual 2016

One of the most important events in the world of illustration, the Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, has reached its fiftieth edition. So much has changed in these 50 years but the wish to create a space where new illustration work of quality can emerge has remained unchanged.

The Illustrators Annual 2016 brings together the work of 77 artists selected from among the 16,000 plates by 3,200 illustrators from around the world.

With a cover illustration by Laura Carlin, winner of the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava, the book contains, along with the selected works, contributions from the five members of the jury: illustrators Nathan Fox, Taro Miura and Sergio Ruzzier, and publishers Klaus Humann and Francine Bouchet. Completing the book are contributions from two highly prestigious names in the world of illustration and editorial graphics, illustrator, writer and graphic designer Maira Kalman and critic and historian of illustration and communication Steven Heller.
