IN Residence #6 | Nature Through Artifice
Design Dialogues
Now in its sixth edition, the IN Residence project is a workshop turned into a book, a reflection on contemporary design created from a format that spans the artist’s residence, educational seminars, the formative master’s and working in the workshop. The idea remains unchanged since the first edition: for three day, some young international designers meet with a select number of students, encouraging a rich and stimulating debate, in the setting of the Contemporary Du Parc Suites, a building designed in the early seventies by architects Laura Petrazzini and Corrado Levi.
With “Identity Detectors”, the IN Residence project continues its journey of reflection on contemporary design, following “Nature Through Artifice” (2009), “Matter Matters” (2010), “Visualising Transformation” (2011), “Sense Memory “(2012),” Little Daily Wonders “(2013). On this occasion, the IN Residence project finds, located in a comparison between the terms “identity” and “detector”, the two poles within which an investigation is organised based on the theme of the material object configured as a “detection device” of the character who owns it.
The designers featured in “Identity Detectors” are: Anton Alvarez, Commonplace, Jean-Baptiste Fastrez, Hilda Hellström, Kolk & Kusters and Giorgia Zanellato.
