Istampita Ghaetta

€20.00

Istampita Ghaetta is the second installment in a trilogy by Adriano Altamira, which started with Conceptual Rigoletta, presented by Edizioni Corraini in February 2018 to mark the exhibition featuring all the drawings created for the book.

The Istampita (or Istampitta) is a medieval dance of which very little is known: it is impossible to reconstruct its choreography (the only thing we can presume is that people tapped their feet to the rhythm of the music), even if some scores remain, with a simple and vaguely obsessive structure, which, as the author states, “have become for me almost the symbol of the life I have danced in recent years, even though the events I lived through were not always up to the music played”.

The twelve chapters into which the work is divided pass seamlessly from essay to story, from scientific truth to ironic fiction. The drawings are not illustrations, but an integral part of the text.
