L'archeologo
Quaderni della valle camonica 3
the archaeologist is a person / a time traveller / a seeker not of gold but of ancient stories
L’archeologo, (the archaeologist), the third of quaderni della valle camonica, peaks of the work of those who rummage through the leaves to unearth signs and fragments of our past, so as to make sense of the present. And what about you? Are you good archaeologists? Leaf through the pages and discover the treasures hidden in the undergrowth and the traces that emerge from the rock. Try to understand the secret, tell your story and the story of others.
This piece of visual and tactile workmanship, which developed during a workshop devised to illustrate the wonderful heritage of rock engravings of the Camonica Valley, has given life to three “notebooks” on its rocks, figures and the work of the archaeologist. Short texts and pages with stratified drawings in relief actively illustrate the knowledge, customs and expressions of a lively, multifarious popular culture.
The archaeologist notebook is edited by Elena Turetti, with a design project by Claude Marzotto, Nicola Ballarini and Swan Lefevre. It accompanies the other two books in the series: rocce (rocks) and figure (figures).
