The year 1966 marked the publication of Nanni Balestrini’s novel \u003cem\u003eTristano\u003c\/em\u003e (Tristan) “no plot and no characters”, which used a combination of techniques to make up a random text that differed from book to book.\r\n\u003cp\u003eIn this \u003cem\u003eSedicesimo\u003c\/em\u003e – deliberately entitled \u003cem\u003eIsotta\u003c\/em\u003e (Isolde) – the “text” is not made up of letters, words and sentences but the signs used for checking print quality.
