Ritratti di umanità
From 2 to 6 October 2018, the writer Elvira Dones and the illustrator Marco Cazzato led a kind of pilgramage entitled Ritratti di umanità (Portraits of humanity), in the Pollino National Park. From this experience in small villages, in the Arbëreshe communities, from the explorations of places and faces, from the encounters and the stories collected, three stories of life and twenty-five illustrated panels have emerged, on display in Matera and Latronico in 2019.
Those stories and illustrations are now brought together in this publication. Ritratti di umanità, part of “Ka art. Per una cartografia corale della Basilicata”, a project of Matera Capitale Europea della Cultura 2019 co-produced by the ArtePollino Associazione Culturale and the Fondazione Matera-Basilicata 2019, which focused on the theme of people as protagonists of landscapes.
