Photography school is a collection of twenty photography projects by students of the Fondazione Studio Marangoni. It includes work by some of the students since 1991 and marks the 20th anniversary of the Florentine school’s foundation.

The subject matter is various – from concerned photography to self-portraiture – as are the techniques and language that these photos have mixed freely in their endeavour to express the marked flexibility of photography, a medium that adapts to the personality and individual need for expression.

The eye adapts rapidly, between a colour print of a Lebanon ready for rebirth after years of conflict and another in black and white of a figure undressing in the half-light, or between stolen glimpses of a family portrait to nudes poised between classical and modern.

Twenty photographers for twenty different points of view to restore a complex and detailed vision of contemporary photography, introduced by the writings of Martino Marangoni, Giovanna Calvenzi, Daniele De Luigi and Roberta Valtorta.

From start to finish Photography school illustrates the many faces photography, encouraging us to reflect on the means itself , its evolution over the years and its current status.
