Nino Migliori
Stragedia
Stragedia di Nino Migliori (Bologna, 1926) is an immersive installation created in the former Church of San Mattia in Bologna, to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Massacre of Ustica.
The project is the result of a reworking of images taken by the photographer in 2007, during the installation of the remains of the aircraft in the Museo per la Memoria in Ustica.
The catalogue contains all 81 shots, corresponding to the number of victims of the massacre, taken by "candlelight", a technique used by Migliori since 2006 for the Lumen series, and an essay by the curator Lorenzo Balbi.
Nino Migliori, in addition to his realistic investigations into post-war Italy, is also known for his constant experimentation with photographic material using techniques of his own invention such as oxidation and pyrograms.
Stragedia interprets the event by means of images that cross over into the abstract, in which details and fragments allow a loss of scale, the same that inevitably comes into play when it comes to giving voice to a historical tragedy.
