Giovanni Baule is a communication designer, graduate in architecture, former professor of Industrial Design and Adjunct professor in Communication Design at the Politecnico di Milano. His research is oriented towards the design methods of communication systems. He deals with criticism and history of Communication Design and has been responsible for research and training projects in the field of experimentation of new communication artefacts. Numerous publications in this field. From 1985 to 2008, he was editor of the magazine Linea Grafica, for which he was awarded the 14th Compasso d'Oro Prize. From 1990 to 1996 he was also editor of the magazine Area-Rivista per la cultura del progetto in architettura, design, comunicazione visiva (recommendation for the XVI Compasso d'Oro Award. He is the author and promoter with Elena Caratti of the Manifesto Design è Traduzione, Franco Angeli 2016 (honourable mention XXV Premio Compasso d'oro). He directs the series Design della comunicazione for Franco Angeli Editore.
