"With his unmistakable drawings, Giorgio Camuffo brushed away pompous encrustations, devoted curtseys and the sacred aura which has surrounded Giambattista Bodoni for two centuries. Camuffo undresses the man, literally and figuratively, and offers us an original and surprising comedy." James Clough

Inspired by the historical biography of BodoniVita del Cavaliere Giambattista Bodoni tipografo italiano, written by Giuseppe da Lama in 1816, Giorgio Camuffo constructs an illustrated biography of the most celebrated Italian typographer. Camuffo's ironic and original drawings are in stark contrast with the nineteenth century language of the text and they take the reader on an amusing journey through episodes of his life and some lesser known anecdotes, allowing the figure of Giambattista Bodoni, a man, citizen and inventor of typographic characters, to fully emerge.
