Bruno Munari
Catalogue of the exhibition at Fundación Juan March, Madrid from February 18 to May 22, 2022
To mark the major exhibition on Bruno Munari at the Fundación Juan March in Madrid between February and May 2022 - the first retrospective dedicated to Munari in Spain, as well as the most comprehensive to date outside Italy - this publication presents and documents Bruno Munari's many pioneering pursuits as an artist and designer, without forgetting his strong pedagogical vocation.
Highlighting the wide range of tools Munari used in his research, ever experimental and innovative, the book opens new perspectives on the work of this "total" artist, defined by Picasso as "a modern-day Leonardo": in these pages we see painting, drawing and sculpture, projections and games of light, objects and works of graphic and industrial design, advertising, typographic exercises, theoretical texts, artists' books, children's books and pedagogical proposals.
The Spanish catalogue, edited by Manuel Fontán Del Junco, Marco Meneguzzo and Aida Capa, combines in-depth essays with a wealth of photographs and images, and is accompanied by an Italian insert containing previously unpublished texts by Marco Meneguzzo, Claudio Cerritelli, Beppe Finessi, Silvana Sperati and Pierpaolo Antonello.
