IN Residence #1 | Nature Through Artifice

Design Dialogues

€16.00

Among the events of Turin World Design Capital, the project IN Residence, curated by Brondi and Marco Rainò, created a 48hours workshop, in which five designers reflected with a group of thirty students from specific institutions dedicated to design of the city of Turin. Subject of the discussion / creation has been the role of design as an expressive resource sensitive to environmental conditions. The culture of design, in fact, is meant to be the wide process and discipline that organizes creative resources in order to generate common welfare solutions and convey emotions. In its impact with the environment, design produces “new” objects that become in time integral part of the landscape (moreover, they contribute to its construction and development). Pre-existing landscape and created object – “nature” and “artifice” – are the two starting points from which the IN Residence project starts.

This book is dedicated to the project IN Residence: the diary of this shared experience is starting point and foreword for the future. The involved designers: Pieke Bergmans (Amsterdam), Tomáš Gabzdil Libertiny (Rotterdam), Julia Lohmann (London), Liliana Ovalle (Mexico City), Raw-Edges Design Studio (london). Architects Barbara Brondi and Marco Rainò founded brh+, architecture studio which extends its research to design from theoretical analysis to concrete design experience. Among the recent projects: IN Residence / Design Dialogues and Over Design Over / Materia, Tempo e Natura nel design contemporaneo.
