IN Residence #7 | Today Was Tomorrow
Design Dialogues
Created in 2008, the IN Residence project is a workshop that becomes a book, a reflection on contemporary design that comes out of a format that is somewhere between an artist’s residence, an educational seminar, a training Master’s and workshop activities. This year, for the first time since its inception, the IN Residence project focuses on two distinct themes, developed through two different workshops.
The first, held in Venice at the Swiss Pavilion at the Giardini della Biennale, as guests of the Swiss Summer School, proposes a workshop entitled “Today Was Tomorrow”, to develop, as in previous editions, a shared reflection on contemporary design in terms of the chosen theme. In this case – in an exchange with surprising outcomes between the participating designers and students – there is an exploration of our present, reflecting on the role of the objects that surround us and their references to the past and the future, in a process of continuous change and adaptation.
The international designers who took part in lectures and workshops with the students are: Antonio Aricò, Atelier NL, Daphna Laurens, Itay Ohaly, Brynjar Sigurðarson and Studio Swine.
