La voce del Maestro. Achille Castiglioni

I modi della didattica

€28.00

“If you’re not curious, forget about it. If you are not interested in others, what they do and how they behave, then being a designer is not for you,” said Achille Castiglioni, advising his students.

Much has been written and spoken about Achille Castiglioni, the architect and designer, his work as a teacher is much less known. Yet for more than 20 years, between 1969 and 1993, Castiglioni sought to transmit his passion for design to thousands of students, first at the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Torino, then at the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. With this work, Eugenio Bettinelli, who collaborated with Castiglioni for many years, explores this aspect of his career, little explored by critics thus far.

La voce del Maestro. Achille Castiglioni was selected in 2015 for the ADI DESIGN INDEX and won an Honorable Mention in the Compasso d'Oro design award in 2016.

The book presents, among other content related to his teaching activities, programmes and exercises that Castiglioni gave to to his students, the bibliographies from his courses and his unique approach to teaching. But it also presents the transcriptions of some of his lessons, published for the first time and accompanied by original audio recordings - which can be heard on a dedicated website - allowing you to get closer to Castiglioni and his teaching without filters or intermediaries, only through his own voice.

La voce del Maestro. Achille Castiglioni (The voice of the Master. Achille Castiglioni) offers a new view and close encounter on the teaching activities of a great master of design, “always related to everyday life and his constant evolution, made up of words and examples that he had personally experienced rather than preconceived disciplinary theories, made of a deeply experienced culture and a reasonable impatience for self-referential academia.”

This volume was awarded an Honorable Mention of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award as a superior quality project, deserving of special distinction.
