In the context of Faenza, a city known all over the world for its ceramic tradition, ISIA Design&Comunicazione was founded in 1980, the only institution in Europe to issue a diploma in Ceramic Design allowing for the study of design together with the manual creation of the product.

Andrea Anastasio was invited to hold a workshop with the students, who were able to develop their thinking and see it materialise in the object chosen as the protagonist, the flower vase. An archetype of the domestic object that has brought beauty and nature to homes since ancient times, it has often been at the centre of the work of designers and architects through the infinite variations of its forms. The students were invited to directly explore the plastic and aesthetic characteristics of the material, before developing projects that present themselves as real exercises in style, showing the possibilities offered by ceramics and the link between creativity, form and function.

The book Work, with texts by Andrea Anastasio, Chiara Alessi, Giovanna Cassese and Marinella Paderni, tells the story of the experience of the workshop that gave life to the exhibition of the same name, in which the fifteen projects developed by the students were exhibited, proposed as an opportunity to open the doors of design thinking to humanistic interpretations and craftsmanship.
