In among the hills of the Chianti Classico region, you will find Ama. A tiny town some 500 metres above sea level administered by the municipality of Gaiole. This is the place that Marco Pallanti and Lorenza Sebasti Pallanti chose to establish and raise their family, their business making wine and oil, their working relationships with artists at the Galleria Continua in San Giminiano, their history.

With pieces by Marcello Fois, Philip Larrat-Smith and Pallanti himself, with colourful illustrations by Federico Maggioni, Coltivare e custodire traces the journey of Castello di Ama and its family, presenting the places and works on display in the estate, in a journey between wine and art, between passion, dedication and a love of beauty.

Among the olive groves, in the courtyards, in the hidden corners of Ama’s constructions, works by Michelangelo Pistoletto, Daniel Buren, Giulio Paolini, Kendell Geers, Anish Kapoor, Chen Zehn, Carlos Garaicoa, Nedko Solakov, Cristina Iglesias, Louise Bourgeois, Ilya e Emilia Kabakov, Pascale Marthine Tayou and Hiroshi Sugimoto engage with the environment: in mutual harmony between art and nature
