Come promesso

The artist Meri Gorni puts reading and writing at the centre of her work, and comprehensively investigates the book as an object and its contents, reflecting on the act of reading itself.

In Come promesso, the volume that accompanies the installation of the same name at the Mart – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, Meri Gorni places letters from women to women –written in different languages and on hotel paper from around the world – alongside portraits of women of different nationalities, from different time periods, and of different ages. There are intimate letters which come from afar evidence of care, attention, of a maintained commitment – “I send you my portrait, as promised”.
