Created in Italy

Starting from a varied sample of Italian factories, each with its own history, Created in Italy stages an exploration of the Italian industrial landscape: a multiform productive landscape, rich and extraordinarily similar to the variety that characterises the national landscape. A variety of products and typologies that draws its value from the intersection of craftsmanship, entrepreneurial initiative and local tradition.

The stubborn quest for perfection, the spirit of invention, the constant experimentation that pushes the limits of materials, but also the pleasure of a well-made product, designed to improve people's lives and which is often "tailor-made": all these characteristics are common to Italian manufacturing excellence, described here through a selection of products in a journey that crosses many different sectors - from textiles to diving, from robotics to design - taking on ever new challenges, from safety to sustainability.

Edited by Odo Fioravanti, Giulio Iacchetti and Francesca Picchi, the book includes an in-depth text by Enrico Morteo and a section with interviews and contributions on some of the businesses analysed, told in the first person by those who have dedicated themselves with passion to the production of new products or invested in their own intuitions to build their own companies.

Created in Italy is published to mark the exhibition of the same name on the landscape of Italian industry, conceived as part of the Promozione del Sistema Paese project, a travelling exhibition that will be hosted by the Italian Cultural Institutes around the world from its opening in December 2021.
