Elisabetta Trincherini offers an interpretation of Giulio Paolini’s work Delfo (IV) inspired by an original theoretical approach, one that is wholly unprecedented in the bibliography on the artist’s work. The common thread in Trincherini’s thoughts is the relationship between the author and the spectator, analyzed through the spatial construct and the photographic language underlying the work, as well as through a questioning of the artist’s “oracular” presence in his interaction with the spectator. The analysis is supported by scientific, philosophical and art-historical references, as well as by perspicacious comparisons with other works by the artist.
The essay constitutes the second volume of the “In collezione” series, dedicated to in-depth monographic studies on selected works of Giulio Paolini.
