The 8th issue of Inventario opens with a cover story dedicated to the suitcase, elaborated in different interpretations by nine authors who have worked on this container of personal effects, which, more so than other things, refers back to our own history and way of life.

The flow of ideas, objects and thoughts that passes through Inventario 08 embraces the life and works of Carlo Mollino, Rudolf Stingel, Allan Wexler, Jasper Morrison, Giovanni Levanti, Haim Steinbach, Roberto Salbitani and others. Particular attention is paid to the important of hands as a subject in art history, from the Lascaux Caves to Cattelan’s “L.O.V.E.” Giulio Iacchetti’s Short Notes are dedicated to the bottle opener, and compiles some of the greatest designs of this object. Accompanying these are the new talents of Near Future (Marco Botti, Daniel Eatock, Helmut Smits), the surprises of Judicious pairings, the certainties of Absolutes, and much more besides.

All the contributors of Inventario 08: “H as in Hands” by Francesco M. Cataluccio and Matteo Pirola, Deborah Duva on Rudolf Stingel, Manolo De Giorgi on Carlo Mollino, Daniel Greppi on Lucien Gumy’s disassemblale bookshelves, Hiroyuky Ikeuchi, Kohdai Iwamoto and Taitan Architects, Michele Calzavara on Allan Wexler, Jasper Morrison interviewed by Marco Romanelli, Giulio Iacchetti on bottle opener, Paolo Bocchi on Marco Botti, Daniel Eatock and Helmut Smits, Alessandro Mendini on Giovanni Levanti, Francesco Garutti on Haim Steinbach, Roberta Valtorta on Roberto Salbitani, Roberto Marone on Andrea Moscardi and Broomberg+Chanarin, Stefano Bartezzaghi on Bruno Munari’s Disturbi Semantici.
