"Italian" is the theme of this second issue of illy·words and the bookzine is dressed up in tricolour, having been specially printed on red, white and green paper. Different perspectives and views come together in a dialogue between art, culture, food, design, photography and illustration. Moving forward through suggestions, avoiding stereotypes (which ironically exorcised by Katrin Stangl’s illustrations), this issue explores the complex unicum known as ‘italianità.’

illy·words 02 features interviews with undisputed experts such as Gualtiero Marchesi, the most influential Italian chef of all time, and William Kentridge, who is about to create an installation along the banks of the Tiber, as well as some emerging voices such as the young street food artisan Cristiano Meneghin; features by Giulio Iacchetti (“one of the most Italian Italian designers that there is”), linguist Giuseppe Antonelli, gesture specialist Adam Kendon, design expert Carlo Branzaglia, historian Alessandro Marzo Magno and food journalist Roberta Corradin.

At the heart of this issue is the photographic section which gathers projects by Massimo Siragusa (Teatro d’Italia), Emma Grosbois (Quelli che ci guardano) and Paolo Simonazzi (Bell’Italia).
