Mario Mariotti's painted hands are transformed into toucans, elephants, and walruses, and then into musicians and athletes, as far as the imagination can take them.

The game of shadows and colours created by Mariotti in the 1980s is dedicated, in his own words, "to those who do not really want to know about art (...) but are content merely to see it, with instinctive diffidence, as something simply extraordinary".
