Architecture and design are not merely answers to questions made by customers, industry or markets, but also an autonomous activity of reflection.
Michele De Lucchi’s paintings are to be placed in this context: neither preliminary remarks for architecture projects nor escapes from professional duties, these paintings are an independent expression of an endless experimentation and a personal reflection on space.
This book includes 111 paintings by Michele De Lucchi made between 2003 and 2005 with tempera and coloured pencils: a series of variations on paper around essential compositive archetypes, rough and mighty, autonomous from architecture projects but at the same time their tacit foundation.
The texts by Andrea Branzi and Luca Molinari analyze De Lucchi’s artistic activity from a close point of view by putting it in his very professional course of architect and designer.
This book is published on the occasion of the exhibition Paintings 2003/04/05 at the Gallery Antonia Jannone in Milan in 2008.
