Museo come territorio di Esperienza

Museo come territorio di Esperienza traces the experience of the MAMbo education department, a real pioneer in Italy in terms of the modernization of museum education, understood as an intermediary between the artistic heritage and the public. A journey that began in the late 1990s at GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Bologna aimed at promoting an increasingly conscious and shared enjoyment, imagining new ways to accompany the public, and especially children, in the reading and understanding of artworks. 

The book, edited by Cristina Francucci, tackles themes such as the educational role of the museum, enjoyment of the artwork, accessibility to the heritage, the school/museum relationship, framing the history and the initiatives of the department in a larger national and international context, providing sources and useful tools to deep the museum dimension of art education from multiple viewpoints. The second part of the book consists of a testimony, both written and visual, of some particularly important and emblematic projects carried out by the department, including workshops, guided tours, training courses and educational exhibits.
