One day, passing through Piedras Negras, Pep Carrió picked up some stones that he took with him to his studio in Madrid, where he began to paint them. The interesting thing is that, once painted, the stones began to speak. When he told this story, nobody believed him. But he did not mind so much. Everyone is free to believe what they want, of course...

When Pep told her the story of the stones, María José Ferrada got on a plane and flew to Madrid. She spent a week listening to the conversations of the stones, with the help of a small paper cone. They reminded her of her childhood village, to which she still returns whenever she can. Inspired by the stones made by Pep Carrió, María José Ferrada describes the inhabitants of Piedras Negras with a delicate touch of black humour and poetry: the bartender, the priest, the carpenter, even the ghost...

In Piedras Negras, there is everything: the village with its houses, the bakery, the river, the sky with its birds and all its stars.
