“In its long and consistent journey, Rooms represents a special moment, the outcome of a very long-term commitment. For decades the artist went about proposing to the poets with whom she was in contact – many of the leading ones on the Italian scene, and not only – to transcribe by hand a literary passage that was important to them. These contributions now appear, collected in the book, each of them is accompanied by a line drawing depicting the poet’s favourite reading place. Once again in Gorni’s work, drawing, writing and reading proceed in the same direction, intersecting”. — Gabi Scardi

What can the place where he lives and works tell us about a poet? Meri Gorni has crossed the threshold of those rooms where poets and writers give birth to their works: they are kitchens, bedrooms, gardens, sometimes a train carriage. She represented them with a line drawing. Next to each drawing was a transcription, made by the host, of a passage from the history of poetry and literature that was important to him.
