"For this issue of Un Sedicesimo we collected fallen pine bark from the ground around a lonely pine in the
Swedish forest. The bark has then been constructed into a typeface. Some letters contain up to 4 flakes
while others already had the form of a letter when we found it.
This experiment is a way for us to invite nature into the design process, creating a clash between the digital
and the biological. A way of letting the otherwise quiet tree express some of its grooviness in the space of
this magazine. Shapes no one would ever have noticed if not picked up by us, and looked at by you.
Shapes that would have decomposed and disappeared in a year or two. Who could have known that a pine
tree wanted to write us novels? This is one lonely pine from Sweden talking to you."
