what we do: books, exhibitions and projects

Our work is made out of curiosity and discovery, levity and fun. An unpredictable and uninterrupted process that, in our case, has lasted for 50 years. 50 years of encounters, bandying between art and books, in search of new languages, contaminations, free experimentation.

Our story

Corraini Edizioni is a publishing house and an art gallery, as well as a space for experimentation and research: a “publishing workshop” open to artists, illustrators and designers, from both Italy and abroad, to create books and art and design projects. Our work with Bruno Munari stands out among our numerous collaborations; he was a versatile artist and designer who worked steadily with Corraini for many years, giving us the idea of a workshop that is always open to creativity and imagination.

Books

In addition to the already established art gallery, Corraini Edizioni's publishing work ranges between design, art and illustration, often blurring the boundaries between the different disciplines. Naturally, given the association with Munari, particular attention is given to artists’ books for children.

When working on each editorial project, content and packaging are thought of as complementary aspects of the same project. Each volume is the result of reflection on every aspect of form and content (size, type of paper and material, binding, cover, type of printing, graphics, selection of texts and images), in close collaboration with the author so as to find a harmonious editorial solution bringing concreteness to the idea-project.

Our catalogue includes books and objects by Munari, Martí Guixé, Enzo Mari, Bob Gill, Giosetta Fioroni, Ettore Sottsass, Paul Rand, Andrea Branzi, Steven Heller, Steven Guarnaccia, Alessandro Mendini, Alfredo Jaar, Italo Lupi, Daniel Eatock, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Antonio Marras, Paul Cox, Michele De Lucchi, Suzy Lee, Francesco Simeti, Luigi Veronesi, Riccardo Dalisi, Gabriele Basilico, Esther Lee, Taro Gomi, Richard McGuire, Taro Miura, Harriet Russell, Keri Smith, Yocci, Fausto Gilberti, Andrea Antinori, MOS Architects, Peter Mendelsund, and many others.

The contemporary art gallery

The Galleria Corraini, founded in Mantua in 1973, focuses its research on the continuity of work that is found between great contemporary artists and the younger generation. A careful, experimental research, attentive to new forms and new talents, trying to discover new paths, true to its transversal and interdisciplinary approach to art, design, graphic design, publishing, and photography. Exhibitions of particular importance (monographic or thematic) have also been held outside the gallery, in collaboration with public and private entities, museums, associations and foundations.
