L'asinello di Santa Lucia

The night between 12 and 13 December is a magical night... All children wait for Santa Lucia and know that they must behave well throughout the year to receive the gifts they have asked for in their letters. But the Saint and her tireless donkey are also getting ready, and how could she do everything on her own without her fantastic helper?

This story is told in the first person by Biagio the donkey, who collects and reads the letters, pulls an increasingly heavy cart, goes to fetch coal from a very special mine, and finally, when all the work is done... he can munch on a carrot or maybe even five!

Following the reinterpretation of this holiday by Andrea Antinori & Noemi Vola, Alice Beniero, Marta Lonardi, Laura Simonati e Andrea Giulia Militello, it is Saioa Aginako, with her colourful and detailed illustrations, who has fun reinventing a tradition that is very dear to children and adults alike.
