Spell is a narrative experiment composed of sketchbook drawings made between 2020 and 2023. Mostly improvised through variations of automatic drawing and exquisite corpse, these ongoing sketchbook pieces originally started as a warm-up exercise, then gradually turned into an oddly probing form of therapy, and have now grown to be the engine behind all of Jérôme’s work, as they continually push him to discover visual ideas and unusual connections.
