Marco Rainò, Gianluigi Ricuperati

Visiorama Lingotto

A booklet to illustrate and discover a historic building, the Lingotto in Turin, through photographs provided by the Fiat archive which retrace the different architecture of the complex over the course of time, as well as its design and management. The architect and designer Marco Rainò and the writer Gianluigi Ricuperati accompany the reader/viewer in a discovery of the Lingotto’s many different facets.

Along the edge of each page, the reader will find a verse of poetry, a song that describes the building. Each verse has a direct or indirect relationship with the chosen images, which they graphically interrupt, questioning them and breaking them up. In addition to inviting the reader to read the verse as a single poem, we would also like to see each word of the poem inserted into Google Books. Each word, as well as forming a complete text about the Lingotto, has been thought of as a generator of living bibliographic research and, over the course of time, they will produce different, abundant results around the subject of this book.

So it is really a kind of garland of significant seeds, double sided: it can be read offline and it can be placed online, creating a grid of connections and ideas and further readings. And like every song written in Turin, it also works if played backwards.
