Faccin Francesco

Constantly shifting between the applicative fields of industrial design, craftsmanship, self-production, social design and limited editions for galleries, Francesco Faccin considers design a powerful tool for understanding and modifying reality, a pretext for connecting different disciplinary fields and participating in the open debate on urgent contemporary issues.

After two years of collaboration with Enzo Mari, in 2004 working with luthier and architectural model maker Francesco Rivolta for five years, acquiring a profound knowledge of wood and fine cabinetmaking techniques. In 2007 he started his own studio in Milan, signing his first collaborations with companies and building relationships with local artisans.
Alongside his work at the studio, from 2009 to 2015 he carried out consultancy work for architect and designer Michele De Lucchi. In addition to regular collaborations with Italian and international companies, galleries and NGOs, Francesco Faccin has lectured at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, the Made Program in Syracuse and the University of Navarra in Pamplona since 2011; he also collaborates with other universities in Italy and abroad, as visiting professor and strategic director.

His projects, published in leading Italian and international design magazines, have received prestigious awards including the Design Report Award, the European Product Design Award, and an honourable mention at the Compasso d'Oro. His works have also been acquired by globally recognised institutions such as the Vitra Design Museum, Triennale di Milano and Mudac Lausanne.
