Flavia Ruotolo studied animation cinema at DAMS in Bologna and Paris VIII. She worked in television as a videographer and then as a graphic designer for publishing. As an illustrator and author, she has produced picture books published by MeMo Editions and Hélium Editions in France, Princeton Architectural Press in the USA and for Prestel Publishing in Germany, the UK and the USA. She is involved in graphic design, design and creative workshops in the children's sector. In 2017 she was selected for the 10th edition of the Triennale Design Museum dedicated to children's design: 'Giro Giro Tondo'. In 2022, she was among the winners of the Bologna Children's Book illustrator exhibition. She lives and works in Genoa and her studio is called Le Macchinine.
