Micaela Chirif graduated in Philosophy and has a Master’s degree in children’s literature and books. Although her first production was linked to poetry, her current work oscillates between poetry, picture books and informative books. She has received various awards for her work. With ¡Más te vale, mastodonte! she won the illustrated album contest “A la orilla del viento”. Three of her books – GoodNight, Martina; Breakfast and Inside a Zebra – are part of the White Ravens catalogue. Inside a Zebra also received an honorable mention in the Talking Pictures Award granted by the New York Rights Fair. She has received the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award and the Catedra de Leitura UNESCO Rio Award for ¿Dónde está Tomás?, book that was selected among the best books published in Brazil in 2019. On October 2019, she won the Hispano-American Children’s Poetry Prize for her book The sea. The German translation (Das Meer) was finalist of the Guggenmos Award andthe Italian one (La forma del mare) won the Premio Letterario Osilo. In 2022 her book Cristina plays was included in the Highly Recommended Books (Fundalectura) and won the prize The Best (Banco del Libro). Two of her books - Unacanción que no conozco and Hermana y hermano - are included in the IBBY Honour List2022. Una noche sin dormir was included in 2022 in the Top Ten Best Books in Spanish by the Public Library of New York. Her last book Che sapore ha? was written in collaboration with Ignacio Medina and illustrated by Andrea Antinori.
