IN Residence #9 | Visible Invisible
Design Dialogues
This book, like those before it in the “Design Dialogues” series, documents the research activities conducted during the workshop of reflections that is part of the program of the IN Residence project. The ninth episode of this publishing sequence consolidates the strategy that sees the specific workshop experience as “participatory research” to give rise to discussion and debate on certain specific and meaningful aspects of contemporary Design Thinking. IN Residence stands out for its ongoing and even stubborn intention of investigation and reflection on the dynamics that regulate our relationship with the world of material things, that extensive and “polycentric” domain that constitutes, in a sum of individual entities with distinct and different substance, the life environment of every human being.
For “Visible Invisible” a new episode of research is added, which assigns the figure of the designer – or at least all those, in the range of these professionals, who stand out for an innate sensibility and capacity to cultivate a multidisciplinary vision of their practice – the role of a subject able to “perceive” and to “see”, a sensitive entity recognized as having a special aptitude for isolating a specific datum from a complex context.
The designers involved in “Visible Invisible” are Ferréol Babin, Jonas Edvard, Germans Ermičs, Gionata Gatto, Sabine Marcelis, Jólan van der Wiel.
