Lupi Italo

Italo Lupi - architect and with an honorary degree in Design from the Politecnico di Milano, works on urban design, exhibition design, graphics and publishing.

He has been image consultant for La Rinascente, IBM Italia and the Triennale di Milano, he designed the logos of Miu Miu, Fiorucci, Cinelli, BBB Bonacina, and the World Ski Championships in Cortina. He has redesigned graphics for institutions, museums and exhibitions including the Triennale di Milano and the Poldi Pezzoli Museum.

Working in collaboration with the architects Castiglioni, Mario Bellini and Guido Canali, he has designed major exhibitions for Pitti Immaginea Firenze, Palazzo Grassi in Venice, the Triennale in Milan, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Museo della Storia in Bologna, the Chopin Museum in Warsaw and Palazzo della Pilotta (Parma).

With Migliore + Servetto, he designed the Look of the City of Turin for the 2006 Winter Olympics and he designed the Look of the City for the same city to mark celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy in 2011 (on both occasions collaborating with the architects Migliore and Servetto). He worked together with the project of Boulevard delle bandiere for Expo 2015.

He was art director of Domus and director of Abitare (for sixteen years).

He has won three Compasso d'Oro awards, one of which was a lifetime achievement award. He is an honorary Royal Designer in London and he is in the Art Directors Club Italia Hall of Fame, he won the German Design Award 2011, the Medal at the International Design Award in Los Angeles 2012, the First Prize Penn/Club Fedrigoni, and the Honourable Mention at the Typomundus in Prague. He has been a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) since the 1970s.

He was editor of the monograph on Prada's industrial architecture, designed by Guido Canali.

With Corraini Edizini, he published Autobiografia grafica, an unusual compendium of a career spanning more than forty years, an issue of the magazine Un sedicesimo and the Italico stamp set, as well as the graphics for several of the publishing house's books.
